Westway Trust seeks trustees

The Westway Trust charity is looking for new volunteer trustees to join its management board. The Trust has been around since 1970 and manages 23 acres of land under the A40 flyover as it passes through North Kensington.

The Trust runs a variety of projects such as the Portobello Green Fitness Centre and Westway Sports, which includes football pitches, tennis courts and climbing walls. It rents out properties at subsidised rates to local voluntary organisations and at commercial rates to private businesses. Popular amenities like the Pop Up Cinema, the Flyover Club and the BaySixty6 skatepark also operate on its land.

Chief Executive of the Westway Trust, Angela McConville says, "This is a great opportunity for passionate and talented individuals to make a positive impact on the lives of thousands of Londoners".

The Trust has ambitious plans to regenerate its land with its Destination Westway strategy, which aims to make the Westway a premier London destination.

The Trust is looking for people with real commitment to its charitable purpose. A proven insight and understanding of the local community would be advantageous, and skills in finance, business, public relations and management will be especially welcome.

The closing date is Friday 12th September 2014.
