Westway Trust's International Artist Bursary 2026
Westway Trust's International Artist Bursary 2026 is now open for applications, with a closing deadline of Monday 13 April. This year the project will finance an artist from North Kensington to spend time in Trinidad and Tobago for a period of creative exploration to find fresh inspiration and new ideas.
The bursary is open to artists working across visual, literary and related interdisciplinary practices. The Trust is looking for artists "who can show clarity of intent: what they want to explore in Trinidad and Tobago, why it matters to their practice, and how they will share learning back in North Kensington".
To apply artists must present a clear proposal supported by examples of their work and outline how they intend to use their time on the trip. The Trust will provide finance for:
- return travel to Trinidad and Tobago
- accommodation costs for the agreed period
- a contribution towards living costs (food/local transport)
- travel and medical insurance cover
To apply you must:
- be aged 18 or over
- be a North Kensington resident, or have a strong ongoing connection to the area
- have a portfolio demonstrating an established body of work

- Artist Forum Exhibition and Launch of our 2026 Artists Bursary. This event includes an exhibition of 2025 Artist Bursary recipient Zakia Chowdhuryâs work and the launch of the 2026 International Artist Bursary. It will offer an opportunity to ask questions about the application process
- Application Deadline: Monday 13 April 2026
- Interviews: 20 April - 30 April 2026
- Trip window: July 2026 - March 2027 (exact dates to be agreed with the selected artist)
